C's Favorite Things- 3&4 Month Baby Must Haves

I am a little behind with Colson's favorite things, but thought I would still post what he loved for 3&4 months! I can't believe we are already gaining in on being 6 months old!! There is a whole new level of excitement in this house with all of the new stuff- eating solids, sitting up on his own and loving playtime more than anything! But here is what we loved at 3&4 months!

1. Brite Starts Exercauser (newer version) - I got the exact exercauser in the photo at a garage sale in perfect condition for $15! Colson started to use it around 4 months old for short periods of time. We have a jumperoo for him also, which I justified because this was only $15, but he still likes the exercauser better. I like this specific model because there are hook/loops all over it so you can hang the baby's favorite toy of the week from it... score!
2.  Fisher Price 1-2-3 Crawl-Along Snail- This toy was given to us by someone in our church, and it is C's FAVORITE! It easily lights up, sings and moves/walks when touched, which is nice for this age since they aren't great at purposefully hitting the buttons on many toys. {warning: it also lights up & sings when you walk by it, specifically in the middle of the night, giving husband a heart attack} It also has a mirror so he can see himself. This thing made tummy time much easier!
3. Baby Einstein - On The Farm - Ok... I'm embarrassed to even put this here. But this specific Baby Einstein movie puts my kid in a trance no matter what else is going on. I discovered this one day when he was SUPER mad on a car ride, so I looked up "baby einstein" on youtube on my iPhone... as soon as it started he was silent and stared at it the whole way home. And it's not just that he likes TV... I have tried other shows/baby einstein videos, and he won't watch them. There's something about the apples falling from the sky and kids in animal costumes that just gets him! He watches it once a day in his jumper/rock & play while I shower... Lifesaver! Plus you don't have to buy it because they have the full length video on youtube!
4. Bum Genius One Sized Pocket Diapers - I haven't mentioned before that we are cloth diapering, but we have been since C was a month (or two?) old. The extra laundry doesn't bother me & his poops aren't gross yet, so there's not much to say. But around 3 1/2 months C got a really bad diaper rash after being in a disposable, so I switched to disposables while we used triple paste for a week. We had a blow out every. single. diaper... poop & pee everywhere! I'm not a cloth diapering activist or anything, but I've never had a blow out in one of my bum g's... just sayin.
5. California Baby Calendula Lotion - Or as my husband refers to it as... "hippy lotion". I, on the other hand, LOVE the smell and so does Colson's sensitive skin. Winter in the midwest is rough and this is keeping him super soft. A little goes a long way, so it's definitely worth the price!
6. Sophie the Giraffe - C's had Sophie for a while, but really started to love her around 3 months! I don't know what it is, but she is just easy for little fingers to hold on to and chew on!
7. Pottery Barn Kids Color Blocked Wrap - We still love our Norwex hooded towel, but C got this as a gift and we are loving it for these colder months! It is SO thick and warm. The middle part is made of super absorbent towel, but the sizes are more of a velvety/microfiber? texture for extra snuggles. It's also awesome because the hood is in the middle section of the rectangle, instead of the corner, so you don't have that awkward moment when the sides of the towel don't fit around your chubba bubba.

I will hurry up with Colson's 5 month favorites, but if you have any suggestions on things we need for 6 months let us know!

  1. I plan on using cloth diapers too ( Baby G will be here in March). I haven't really mentioned it to anyone, I just really don't want to have to explain "why" to everyone. I'm not one of those "go-green" people, I just think it's the best thing for my baby.

I have seen more and more new moms coming out about using them.

    1. I am totally the same way!! I get a lot of "oh well, good luck with that!" and "that's totally disgusting!".. but honestly it's not that bad! I think it's just as gross to have a garbage full of poopy diapers! Plus, during our week of disposables, I had so many poop filled clothes I had to wash! Not to mention the money I spent!

The only bummer part I've found is they're super bulky if you use the one size diapers.

  2. Glad to hear you are a BumGenius fan! I started with my first and now with my little guy as well. (He was born July 23) I actually like the older All In One models, but you can't buy them anymore...bummer for sure. It is nice to not have to stuff. Thanks for the previous post of 30 in 30. I am going to hang it on my fridge. Colson is adorable.

    1. Oh how fun, they are so close in age! I have not tried the all in one style, because I wasn't sure about the drying time. I live in MN so can't line dry my diapers except a couple months out of the year. Have you tried the AI2s? The stuffing can get really annoying & I've heard lots of mom's say the ai2s are a good compromise. Alva baby has really cheap ($6) ones that I've heard really good things about... That's what I'm going to try next!
