DIY Wedding Favors & Reception Details

It is crazy to think that a year ago & I was wrapping up 5 months of wedding projects and getting ready for the big day! I can tell that it's wedding season again because I have been getting lots of comments & emails about different DIY touches from our wedding last year! One of the most common questions I get is about the favors table at our wedding reception.

I couldn't decide what I wanted to do for wedding favors... so I figured I would just make a bunch of my favorites & make a table where guests can choose what they want to keep! I mean, personalized coasters are cool... but if there are 5 people in one family, you don't want 5 sets of coasters! It was unique & ended up being a hit!

I apologize in advance for the horrible pictures! I really didn't make any tutorials and most of the pictures came off of my crappy cell phone. I guess that's what I get for doing my project gradually while watching the Bachelor! :)
1. Custom CD's I made about 40 CD's of the music from our wedding ceremony & special dance songs. This was really inexpensive because it didn't require much! I got the CD labels from Office Max and the CD's & sleeves from Walmart. These were really fun & a good way to remember the songs from your special day... especially if you're doing more contemporary music rather than cheesy love songs! :-) Our music included Lucky {Colbie Caillat}, Always Forever {Phil Wickham}, Deeply In Love {Hillsong}, I Do {Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat}, The Way I Am {Ingrid Michaelson} and a couple of other fun songs!
2. Handmade Tile Coaster
These were by far the favorite from the whole table! I probably should have just done coasters only... but I didn't know everyone would LOVE coasters so much! I will do a tutorial on these soon... but there are about a million out there. The cost was cheap because we bought the plain white tiles at the restore for 5 cents a piece! I did sets of 4 and used scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby. You also need felt for the bottom, mod podge, spray sealer & ribbon. I made "Thank You" tags on the computer using microsoft word & a scalloped edge punch {see more pictures below}.
3. Thank You Candles
I bought 2 packs of these from Michaels using a 40% off coupon. Totally not DIY, but I thought it was a good filler & very inexpensive if you use a coupon!
4. "Love is Brewing" Coffee Packets

Here is a good gift for the guys who don't care about coasters & candles! It was also VERY inexpensive! I got the cone bags on sale for less than $1 per 25, but I am sure you could buy them online for not much money. I bought an organic dark roast for $6/lb at Trader Joes and put approx. 12 Tbsp in each packet. It's been a while so I don't remember my exact measurements, but I want to say that I got around 14-16 packets per pound of coffee. I tied them up with a ribbon & homemade "Love Is Brewing" tag. {see more pictures below}
5. Sweet Pea Packets

I got these packets of seeds on sale for like 25 cents/dozen so I just used them as a filler! But they were gone so I am guessing that there were some gardeners at our wedding :)
6. Cookie Cutters & Recipes
I also got these cookie cutters at the Carlson Craft sale for less than $2/for 24 of them, but I know that you can get them online also! I printed out a favorite cookie recipe of ours on white card stock & matted it on black. Then I punched out a hole in the top corner & tied the cookie cutters with a ribbon. They looked so cute spread out on the table.
The extras
The little black place card holders were just the cheap, silver ones from the dollar tree that I spray painted black. I printed out labels of what everything was & put them out {not like it's not self explanatory...? I just like to create more work for myself!}.

The advice box was where people dropped off advice card/mad libs that were put on every place setting. They were so fun to read on the way to the airport for our honeymoon! {Pictures below}

The little, pink containers are just from the dollar tree and went with the rest of the decor. They are also super nice because they now organize the drawers under my bathroom counter :)

Also, the table really was decorated! This picture was just taken before the decorators had gotten there! If I left anything out, please let me know!! I so so so regret not taking any good pictures! I have a few from my photographer, but they aren't very clear!

I hope all of you future brides are enjoying wedding planning & remember to spend time enjoying the big day! It is over so quickly & I can't believe we will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary in just over a week!

30 Weeks

How far along? 30 Weeks
Total weight gain: 23 lbs... yep, that's 3 lbs in 1 week! Thanks heat & humidity.
Maternity clothes? Still rocking stretchy shirts & leggings/shorts when I can!
Stretch marks? None yet... using tons of creams for my itchy belly!
Sleep: Umm... not so great anymore.
Best moment of the week: My mom & I spent Friday hitting up the city wide garage sales trying to get some of the more expensive things for baby! It was a long day with record breaking heat but we had a lot of fun! I got some really nice/barely used stuff for a great deal like a new baby swing (4 mos old), a play mat, and a moby wrap (barely used for only $5!) It takes the sting out of those really expensive purchases when I get some stuff used!
Miss anything? The list is growing... but it is all going to be worth it! :)
Movement: Tons! I felt like baby boy flipped out of position because he's been so active the last week or two... turns out he just had a huge growth spurt and every kick is painful now!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really... just sticking to smaller meals.
Gender prediction: Boy.. I really should remove this question!
Labor signs: None
Symptoms: I still have tons of mid/upper back pain due to muscle spasms and now rib pain (only on the left side due to him kicking them all day) & still having round ligament pain.
Belly button in or out? Out a little
Wedding rings on or off? On so far but I am sadly going to bite the bullet & take them off soon...or they may have to be cut off!
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy! And sore. :)
Looking forward to: Can I still say finishing the nursery??... cause we're not even close!

{Long Overdue} Weeks 24-29 & Baby Update

I know this post is very long overdue... but better late than never, right? I can't believe we are already at 30 weeks next week! Time is flying by & we have been so busy around here, not only getting ready for baby but having tons of other commitments that are keeping our weeknights & weekends packed! I have been taking my baby bump pictures so I am just going to pack them all into one post! Thanks so much for being so patient!!

How far along? 29 weeks + 5 days
Total weight gain: I've made it to the +20 lb mark... dr. says my increase of 8 lbs in one month was probably due to the 10 cookies I have as my daily breakfast. It's starting to get hot around here, so bring on the water weight.
Maternity clothes? Not really... just 1 pair of maternity jeans that I wear when I need dressier jeans. Otherwise I still have 2 regular pairs I can wear. It's mostly yoga pants & stretchy shorts when lounging around the house!
Stretch marks? None yet... using tons of creams for my itchy belly!
Sleep: Great! Mostly because I'm so exhausted by the time I get to bed I pretty much just pass out until my alarm goes off.
Best moment of the week: Or last 6 weeks? :) We have had so much fun seeing how big baby is getting! The dr. says he's still in the 65th percentile and he's still super active! I have the lumpiest belly ever {I thought baby bellies were round?!} and he pokes out of both sides all of the time.. some days the front of my belly is totally flat and there are two bulges sticking out the side. But dr says he's head down so hopefully he'll stay that way. We have also made some progress on the nursery, but it's coming slowly since we have had something going on every night after work for ages the last several weeks!
Miss anything? Tanning!! I forgot how in May I am stark white & usually hit the tanning bed a couple of times... my pudgy face doesn't really help the whole situation either. And of course the little things, like being able to slouch, eat without getting sick & not having heartburn. But Travis says that I'll be one of those women who really misses being pregnant {he's probably right} because all in all it's not been bad!!
Movement: Lots! Baby also gets the hiccups about 3 times a day... poor little guy!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Food in general.. but not because I'm nauseous. I think my stomach is just getting low on space so any time I eat a decent sized meal I pretty much feel like throwing up right away.
Gender prediction: boy
Labor signs: None
Symptoms: Where to start?! Nothing too bad... but heartburn has come to a new level, I'm finally peeing all the time, I got a bad case of food poisoning last week & my round ligament pain & back pain is pretty much constant.
Belly button in or out? Usually out a little bit... except for when baby is bulging out my sides, then it goes back in.
Wedding rings on or off? On but I'm feeling rather puffy lately so I am sure this won't last for too much longer!
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery!

I know this isn't a baby blog, but since I've been slacking with everything else I thought I'd show you what we've been up to lately.

Hubby made some progress on painting the baby's room. We only have the paint up so far, but we are doing a board & batten treatment on the bottom of the walls. The boards are in the garage & all primed, just need to get them up on the walls!
I've been busy sewing {which I really don't know how to do} and have made a few homemade must-have's for our little man. It is SO much cheaper to buy the fabric than to buy it all separately {as long as you use coupons!} I made these double sided flannel receiving blankets & they are so cozy! I have a 3rd but I guess it didn't make it into the picture :)
 I made a bunch of these burp rags. They are flannel on one side & chenille on the other {and I made a few by cutting up a fleece-ish scarf I had rather than buy more chenille cause it's so expensive!}
I bought a set of cloth diapers & made a few more burp rags using scraps of ribbon & flannel.
This is the only tie burp rag I made cause I didn't have any other fabric that would be cute!
I made 20 of these wash cloths because I had all of this leftover terry cloth & flannel. They seem much more durable & soft then the cheap little ones you buy at the store. I guess I'll see soon!
And this... you won't believe it... but daddy-to-be made it for me for mothers day! It was so sweet! He & baby boy got me this & a giftcard for a pedicure {since I can no longer paint my toes without taking 18 breaks to breathe!}. I was so impressed by his thoughtfulness and can't wait to put this up in the nursery!! He made it the best mother's day & I don't even have a baby in my arms yet!!
So sorry about being MIA for so long but I hope you are all doing well!! Thanks so much for checking in with our little family :-)
