Decluttering Our House: 30 Minutes a Day for 30 Days! {with printable}

With the addition of this precious one, my organizing obsession has gone completely out the window. Don't get me wrong, he's way more fun than organizing, but I just simply don't have the time to sit down and do anything for a hour or two consecutively. Which means big organizing projects have not been tackled, or get started and take forever to complete! That, coupled with the massive amount of stuff a newborn adds to the house, I have decided that it's time to go through and purge!  {PS- I got a mom hair cut. I'm still not really a fan}

By no means do we have a TON of stuff, but we moved into our house from a 900 sq. ft. apartment and had the luxury of having so much room we didn't know what to do with it all. Because of that, I didn't strategically organize things to maximize our space. I decided that reorganizing to utilize all of our space is my first goal of the new year! But since I don't have an entire weekend to commit to it uniterrupted (or even a couple of hours before baby needs to eat/play/be entertained/be held/be changed) I decided to break it down into tasks that are actually possible to do in 30 minutes per day and be done in 30 days!

If you'd like to join me for 30 days of decluttering & purging, I have included a link to download the list that I am going off of. You can cross off/add things that may be different at your house. Most lists I've seen go room by room, but I did it a little differently. I tried to scatter longer tasks in between super easy ones, so that if I have extra time one day I can spill over into the next days task. For example, I think the kitchen cupboards will take me a lot longer than other things, so I sandwiched them in between easier things like cleaning products & electronics. I am not simply going through to clean these areas, my goal is to get rid of an average of 5 things per space. We simply have a lot of things that we really don't need so why not get rid of them? It would make tidying the house much simpler, plus I plan to sell the nicer/bigger things and donate the rest. I recently bought a toy on a local online garage sale group on facebook and the lady told me she's made over $1000 in a month selling random stuff around her house on this group which was all the extra motivation I needed to purge! I'll try to update you weekly and I'd love to hear if you do it also... I will need some motivation!

If you'd like more frequent updates, you can "like" Joy Is At Home on facebook by clicking HERE, which includes lots of instagram pictures of a cute baby {just a forewarning}. Hope you have a happy and safe new year!
