red, white & blue poppy headbands!

It's almost 4th of July!! This is truly my favorite holiday {after Christmas} and I just love everything about it! However, this year I've been quite a slacker in the holiday decor department, so I haven't gotten around to many 4th of July crafts. But I decided to make some poppy headbands {just like these ones I originally made}. These literally cost me 75 cents, but would be around 1.50 if you needed to buy all of the supplies.
 1. First, trace your spool of ribbon. I use 3 for each poppy, but have used up to 5 and it is just as adorable.
 2. Cut out your felt circles. To size mine, I cut right inside of the lines, right on the lines, and a bit outside of the lines. Make sure to take into account that when you singe the edges the circles will shrink a bit.
 3. Take a lighter to the edges and lightly singe the edges. You may have to experiment a bit, but if you leave the flame on them for too long they will shrivel up and lose their shape. I sort of "tap" the edges with my lighter {i know... it sounds really safe, doesn't it?}
 The edges will end up having sort of a wet look... my favorite!
4. Next, put a couple of small stitches through the felt to hold in place. Then, sew on 3 beads in a triangle shape.
 5. Tie the back of your string and cut the edges. In my original tutorial, I sewed the poppies right onto the headband. But for this one, I used a ribbon instead of a stretchy headband, so I was able to hot glue the poppies right onto it. If you do use the stretchy headbands, you won't want to hot glue them because when they stretch apart on your head the hot glue will break off.
6. Place a dab of hot glue onto the back of the poppy & press it onto your ribbon. Then, cut a smaller circle of felt for each flower and glue that onto the other side of the ribbon.
 7. If you are using ribbon for your headband, wrap the ends of the ribbon around a hairtie and and knot a couple of times. I put a couple of stitches in mine for reinforcement, but I don't think this was necessary. But make sure to take into account how much the hairties stretch. When I first tried this method, my headband was big enough to fit Goliath.
 Here's the final project! {Please forgive my messy house. My dog recently gained privileges to go into this room and the couch has been taken over by her & her blankets!}
ok, this taking pictures of yourself is waaaay harder than little miss momma makes it look! i took about a million and only ended up with these 3 {that really aren't good, but they're the only ones you can clearly see the headband in!}.
So i give up, here's a clear picture! I can't wait to wear it this weekend! And this craft is seriously so easy & quick so if you're a procrastinator like me, you still have time!

cheap new kitchen table & chairs! finally!

yes, we finally got a new table & chairs set!! it was long overdue.
{you didn't really think this was here to stay, did you?}
while the old table & chairs worked just fine... they didn't really match our white kitchen. it was also a little too big for our dining area because we don't have a whole lot of space to work with. we wanted something tiny that would still seat the same amount of people. this comfortably seats 4 this way, but has a leaf that can seat up to 10.
 so we picked up this set from ikea for only $400 total! i know, it won't last forever. but we don't plan to live here forever so we didn't want to put a big investment into something temporary.

 we love them! and we love our new linens from our target registry! this is the table set for my mama's 43rd birthday! happy birthday mom! we had the yummiest manicotti {thanks to my favorite giada recipe} and i made this delish peach dessert from bakerella {it was SO easy!}.
 did you see this water pitcher? it is the coolest thing ever! we got it from someone for our wedding and the middle part has slits in it that you can fill with your favorite fruit and it flavors your water! and since i flavor my water like it's lemonade... it's perfect for me! i can't wait to try lemonade and fill it with raspberries!
The last thing to do is change out those brown curtains for some white ones. I just can't find them long enough  so that I can hang them from the very top of the wall... but I'm still searching!
 and since we're in the kitchen - i'll show you our new white dishes from target. they look great and were only $50.00 a set {unfortunately, we're still waiting for our 3rd set because target decided to change the size of the dishes during the 2 months we were registered, but leave the same name/price/item number.... so we got 2 sets of 1 kind and 1 of the other! ugh}
 this was travis' pick for the registry. we love our cow creamer. the bff sure does know how to buy gifts!
 and the next 2 just slipped in, because i'm so stinking excited about them!! finally a kitchenaid! i almost didn't register for this because i thought people would think i'm snotty registering for something so expensive... but my mom made me go back & do it!
and an espresso maker, fit with the ingredients for the best iced caramel macchiato! {also compliments of the bff}
oh, weddings are just so much fun!

you can add pet groomer to my resume + wedding pictures.

i think i've taken my cheap-o-ness to a whole new level. buckaroo {who attained that nickname by having a bark that sounds more like a chicken than a dog} needed a haircut.... bad. but i just don't want to spend another $40 on my dog's hair. so i did it myself.
 it took an hour.. but now she's the cutest ever. and daddy loves it because she looks like a puppy again.
 anyone know how to get those little hairs out of her eyes? i just can't get them short enough.

 she has a whole new attitude with her new hair.
a prissy attitude.
awesome.
and since picasa organizes my pictures all funny... i got lost while trying to edit these pictures and stumbled upon some of my mom's wedding photos that she put on my computer. want to see? {still anxiously awating the professional ones}

our bridal party.
{yes. those are the bridesmaids dresses that i got for $15.00!! who says you need to pay $150 for a dress?!}
 their cute headbands are my favorite!
 our photographer drying off my flowers. he seriously thought of everything {including finding a loop under my dress for me to hold my train.... yep. some boys do pay close attention to detail}
 and my baby sister showing off her kissing ball
hopefully i will have some professional photos to show you soon! and a craft! yep. i should go work on a craft right now. but thanks for helping me procrastinate!
