Wedding Guestbook With Matching Flower Pen Display

holy long title, right? I'm just not feeling the creative juices at the moment! But I wanted to show you one of my few wedding projects that I actually remembered to photograph {and the worst-blogger-ever award goes to me!}

So since there is pretty much nothing traditional about my wedding I decided to make my own guestbook. You know, I just feel like I have to make everything myself to make it ultra-cute. But then it took a long time and I got sick of making it. And then it was done & I'm now I'm so glad I did. So on to the goods!
I started out with this 8x8 scrapbook from Michaels (for 7.99). My store was out of the vinyl brand, so this is the canvas although I would have preferred the vinyl. I cut out the names & date with hot pink vinyl and stuck it right on.
I printed off some of our engagement pictures and very simply arranged them in the book. I didn't do much with them. I bought the pack of swirly black stickers from Michaels and randomly matted the pictures with black, pink and white shimmer paper.
I also made a couple of pages that say "shower guests" and brought them to my showers.
I realize as I'm posting this that I forgot to take a clear shot of the pages that people will sign! But it's late, I'm in my pj's with a blanket and a yorkie on my lap so you'll have to just imagine :-) I just printed them off from microsoft word, rounded the corners & used Impervious font to type "Wedding Guests" {free from amandaandkevin.com}. I'm in love with their fonts. But I did have to use a different font to do the underscore for the lines- because I'm computer illiterate and have no idea how to make lines on a page.
We had the perfect snowy day for our engagement pictures (in end of march!).
look at this hunk. i'm so lucky to be marrying him.
You thought I was done? Psh....... you should know that I always overcommit myself. Why would I make things easy and just put normal pens out? So I decided to make some to match the decor.
Supplies:
Sharpies are the only thing that I trust to write on shimmer paper & not smear. So I pulled the cap out a bit, dabbed hot glue and started wrapping!
After three of these, I learned that it worked the best not to overlap the ribbon for the first layer because it bunches up. I wrapped really tight and glued every couple of inches.
I left a bit of extra here so that I could fill the spaces with hot glue. I don't have a picture {you know, gotta work fast with hot glue!} but I filled it up and added more around the stem of my daisy and stuck them together. They're not going anywhere!
I put the pens in old starbucks frapuccino bottles that I ran through the dishwasher. The black beads are from the $1 tree and I used 2 bags total and the hot pink ribbon is from hobby lobby wedding section. I love them!
The fake daisies are from michaels. And I'm not super excited about the fake flower decor.... but this just would not work with real daisies. whatev.
And here it is {sorry i missed half the display!}. This will be on a table when you come to our ceremony along with little buckets of bubbles & a basket of fan programs. I just love it! And now instead of shoving my guestbook in a corner, it's in a cute scrapbook that I can keep out and look at when I'm in the sentimental mood :) Now let's hope it doesn't rain! Start praying now!!
And in case you were wondering- this is where we're getting married. This picture was taken in the winter, so it's pretty ugly! But it's all green now, I promise! We will be in a big open area to the left of this waterfall. It won't be rushing this much either- this was right after 8 months worth of snow melted!
Lily approved. So we had to pick it!

***and a total sidenote {which i never do. but i really want this one} - head over to one of my alltime favorite blogs little miss momma for a kristen duke ebook giveaway! please please i need it! i am determined to spend some airplane/beach time on our honeymoon seriously learning how to use my camera on manual {when i'm not busy baby making!!}***

*Mothers Day Idea* Make a Spring Candle

There hasn't been much crafting around here lately.
Actually, scratch that. There's been tons of crafting. Wedding crafting.
Crafting that is stressing me out so much that I literally can't even stop to take decent pictures.
Mostly because the crafting is taking place in the middle of the night.

So I thought I'd show you this craft that I made last year.
Yep, that's right. Last year. Procrastinate much?
It'd be perfect for mother's day! Or to add some extra spring decor.
I had these Yankee candles left over from Christmas time. I rarely buy Yankee candles. Not because I don't love them, but because I'm cheap. {like you didn't already know}
I usually buy them around Christmas time when they have their buy one get one free coupon, but I didn't use them all up. So spring time came and I needed a cheap way for a makeover.
I don't have any pictures of the process {this was pre-blogging days} so I'm very sorry! But it's super simple. I just cut out 12x12 scrapbook paper in a strip to fit all the way around. Then another little green strip to put around the middle. I used mod podge on the bottom to seal it and then a good thick coat over the top. Then just tied a ribbon around it and done!

I should note that I'm not sure whether or not mod podge is fireproof. I remember google-ing (is that a word?) it forever before doing this and I couldn't find anything that says otherwise! And since then I've burned this candle down to the bottom with no melting or fires..... so my guess is you're safe! :)
And here it is! It'd be cute to do this with some of those jar candles found at Walmart or Target... just to make them more personal!

Also, if anyone would like to be a guest-poster on my blog from now until June 15th, please email me at:

I am preparing for the lack of blogging by me until this wedding is over.
I feel awful. But it is the fact right now.
Emails have gone unanswered.
Comments have gone unreplied.
Crafts have gone unphotographed.
My living room has become a dumping ground for all wedding related items.
My kitchen is not clean.
And I am out of coffee as of today because grocery shopping has also not been done.
So I am very sorry!
But take it as your opportunity for free advertising!!!!!

Love,
