Have you ever made something that was totally unnecessary just because you're feeling crafty? Well, I don't have any kiddos to fill my fridge with artwork, so I really have no need for magnets. But I wanted to make them anyway! And I love them! Maybe someone else's kid will make me some artwork to hang on my fridge. In the meantime, here's the easy peasy step by step.
All you need is:
mod podge
foam paintbrush
scrapbook paper
scrapbook paper
rub on words
magnets {i got mine @ hobby lobby}

glass beads

First, you trace all of your glass beads. You could probably just make them all the same size but I traced them all because my glass beads were significantly different sizes. I numbered them and then put all of the glass beads in a row to know which was which.
I cut out a bunch of cute & inspiring words.... but I realized that you couldn't really see the light blue through the glass so I ended up using mainly red, black & dark green words.
Rub your words onto the front of the scrapbook paper.
And then modpodge the front of the scrapbook paper. I cannot tell you how many times I mod podged the back out of habit. If you do that, don't worry... just scrape it off {i used the side of the brush}and do the front right away so it doesn't get ripply.
Then mod podge the paper with words facing up to the back of the glass beads. The words & scrapbook paper should show through.
Once they're dry, put a dab of epoxy {or your choice of super strong adhesive} on the magnet & press it down on the back of the glass bead.
Make sure not to set them down too close to each other or this will happen.
Here they are completed! Sorry about the shinyness of the side of my fridge. If anyone wants to give me free photography lessons, I'm game!
I love them! And even though I don't need them.... they are going to make great gifts!
This is totally unrelated, but I thought I'd throw in a picture of the beautiful Lake Superior. Husband took me up to Duluth, MN for my 24th birthday {which also happens to be 9/11} & we had an amazing time! The weather was perfect & everywhere was beautiful.
This was the only picture we got of the two of us. It was taken at the historic Glensheen Mansion. I wish they would have let me take pictures inside!! There were some amazing decorations that could have definitely been turned into something more modern for my house!
Hope you are having a great start to your week!! And if you still haven't entered my most recent giveaway, make sure to comment by Friday!! There are lots of vinyl decals up for grabs and you don't want to miss out!!

ReplyDeleteVery cute! For Mother's Day, I made the same kind of thing with pictures of our family members instead of words. My mom loved them, but I think I love the words better!
