Are you sick of reading blog posts about tiles? Well, you might want to take a quick break from ji@h because I bought about a trillion box of these little white tiles for my wedding and have a bunch left over... so the projects might just keep coming.
We are throwing a bridal shower for my cousin in a couple weeks and decided to use some of them up as decor. We thought it would be a unique way to display their beautiful engagement pictures & also a fun giveaway for door prizes... because my family believes that every guest should get a door prize.
{we just have to be fair, of course. still to this day, when we play games and someone wins, my grandma still helps everyone else finish too.. because, ya know, we all have to win. :)}
We used regular scrapbook paper and cut it to be 4x4". The tiles were about 4 1/4 x 4 1/4". We printed out the photos in black & white on regular printer paper so that it was easier to mod podge and cut them out to 3 1/2 x 3 1/2".
Then we hot glued a short piece of ribbon to the back of the tile.
We cut out felt to be 4x4" and hot glued that on the back of the coaster for protection. Note to self: felt does not cut in the paper cutter.
We could have cut them a little larger... it just depends on your tiles. Mine were plain white tiles for 5 cents a piece from the Restore.
Here's where we messed up, so I'll just show you what not to do. We used double sided tape to tape the photos to the paper & then we mod podged the scrapbook paper directly on to the coaster. It looked ok {see photo below} but once we mod podged over the top it got really bubbly... duh.
So then we scrapped that idea and we mod podged the scrapbook paper onto the tile, then mod podged the photo onto the top of the paper. Am I confusing you yet? Once they dried, we mod podged a thin coat over the whole thing. Did you get that?
wait. til. it. dries.
and then... what til it dries!
Trust me, you'll save yourself a headache of bubbles. I also like to use a credit card to smooth out any bubbles.

Here is the final product! We made 10 different variations. My mom got the little easels from the dollar tree to display them until they're given away.
Any other ideas for tiles? I have a closet full to use up!!! Let me know!!
I'm partying here this week:
