Hello Ladies!! Thanks for sticking around for my super long vacation! We had a perfect wedding day {ok, almost perfect. we will ignore the spilling of the sand all over the sand table... what's a wedding without a few laughs?} and an amazing honeymoon! Although the hubby & I realized that we, in fact, are terrible vacationers. Some people would lay by the pool from 8 am until 8 pm while I was itching to make a to do list & put away our gifts and he was itching to start the new "combined" budget. But we had a great time with our forced relaxation!
Anyway, I am finally back with another craft!! I made these soaps for the people who were not directly in the wedding, but would be at the rehearsal dinner (sisters, pastors wife, grandma's, step parents, etc). I wanted something to give them that would be cute, say thank you, be practical, and be somewhat easy since I needed to make 9 of them.
And then, my mother informed me that you are not supposed to buy gifts for everyone at your rehearsal dinner. Only the bridal party. Whatever. I like giving gifts, so there.
{here's part of our gift table, minus the green ones on the left that someone brought us. these are in the white bags on the left}
Anyway, back to the point!
I started out by getting all my foam soaps from B&BW, but you could use any soap. If I'd had any black vinyl, I'd probably have done all pink soap with black writing {this was the only thing that didn't match!} but I got over it :)
I peeled off the labels pretty easily and then used goo-gone to get the stickies off. This is probably the most time consuming part of the whole project.
{*if i would have been smart i'd have taken the back labels off too, but oh well!*}
I typed the "thank you" from my silhouette using the font Impervious {found free at: kevinandamanda.com} and bought the little daisy in a set of 3 flowers from the silhouette store. I only liked the daisy, so I have a stack of 2 other flowers that I will have to find a use for.
Here it is with pink soap & green ribbon. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any green satin ribbon at michaels, but this worked just fine!
I think they are so cute! And the yummiest flavors for summer!
I put each one {with some chocolate bars!} in a little white giftbag from michaels {12 of them for $4 with a coupon}, a bit of hot pink tissue paper & a black ribbon tag down the front. I don't know where a picture is of the whole thing, but I am sure I have one somewhere!
I love the pink satin ribbon... it really pops!
The rehearsal dinner was decorated as a beach theme to "send us off". Travis' family made it so fun and adorable!
There was even sand scattered down each of the tables.
And this is Travis & I when we were little... just embarrassing!! :)
And here is a sneak peek at my next post:

I think it's a great idea. Not a huge gift, but the way you packaged everything made it look like a million bucks. Great job!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining my Weekend Bloggy Reading party (and for linking back--I appreciate that!). Hope you'll stop by Serenity Now again soon. :)
That is a great idea! How nice of you to make sure everyone got a gift! I love giving gifts too! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute idea! I hope you had a fabulous honeymoon! Congrats:)
ReplyDeleteVery cute idea! I'm debating the silhouette .... is it really that easy to use? Or do I need to know photoshop??
ReplyDeleteVery Cute!! I've been trying to figure out what I should do for a guestbook and I saw your DIY wedding mad libs, and was wondering if you have blogged about how you did those yet? I first found your site looking at bridesmaid survival kits. I knew i wanted to do it, but i just wasnt exactly sure what should go in it until i saw your blog. So thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis might be a stupid question, but how did you stick the letters on the bottles? Were they printed on paper first?
