nontraditional DIY bridal party totes

well, first off. let me say that if you are in the picture below, you should probably stop reading this post!
and for the rest of you, aren't my bridesmaids pretty?!
So on to the post! I found these adorable totes at Michaels a long time ago. I loved them and thought they'd be perfect for my hot pink & black damask wedding!! They are meant to be scrapbook totes, so they are really thick and durable.
 They also have a flat bottom, so they stand up on their own. Well, I passed on them because they were too expensive. But recently I went back and they were on sale for only $4.99! So I bought them for my girls as opposed to the "traditional" plain bag that has "bridesmaid" embroidered somewhere.
 But since it is for the wedding, I thought it'd be cute to personalize them! So I used my silhouette and vinyl to cut out "Bridesmaid" and "Maid of Honor" {of course using one of the awesome fonts from kevinandamanda.com- this one is HOWSER}
 I think they turned out SO cute! I used the vinyl because, let's face it, not everyone wants to be carrying around a bag that says "Maid of Honor" on it when they're at the mall. So I figured that after the wedding they can peel them off and have another new bag! But they are durable enough to hold up for as long as they want them to. However, if you wanted them more durable the heat transfer paper would work perfectly!

 I love the black wording over the pink bag. And let me tell you, when you buy a roll of silhouette vinyl- it seriously lasts forever. I have used my hot pink vinyl a million times and it barely looks like I've touched it!
Here are the 4 of them. I plan to fill them with fun stuff for the wedding day, including a "Bridesmaids Survival Kit" that I'll be sharing shortly!!

And a closeup.
Alright well back to the wedding projects!!

  3. I love the damask! Such cute bags. The hot pink is pretty bold, but looks good with the black.

  4. Love these! I had the same idea... (i.e. Not everyone wants to pack around a bridesmaid tote!) So I just personalized mine with their names. Also using my Silhouette! :)
