**spoiler alert!** bridesmaids gifts below :)
For the last couple of months I've been collecting things as I find them for a "bridesmaid's survival kit" to give to my girls before the wedding. I guess I've been collecting for too long because I went to check my stash the other day and it was exploding. So I decided I've finally gotten enough to put together the baskets for my bridal party.
Here is everything stuffed into a box.
I laid it all out and tried to make sure I didn't forget anything!! When I first thought to make this, I searched everywhere online for a comprehensive list of anything & everything that you would need on a wedding day... but I never found one. So here it is: the ultimate bridal party survival kit {list below}
Supplies:
-mini nail files {1.25/3 pk. - B&BW}
-pack of 5 mentha lip gloss {$3/each - B&BW}
-clear nail polish {.94 cents/each - Walmart}
-hand sanitizer {$1/each - B&BW}
-lint roller {.94 cents/each - Target travel section}
-mini hairspray {.99 cents/each - Target travel section}
-juice box {$1/4 pack - Dollar Tree}
-24 pack of tylenol {.97 cents/each - Target pharmacy section}
-mini sunblock {.97 cents/each - Walmart travel section}
-compact mirror {$1/each - Walmart}
-wisp travel toothbrush {$1/2 pack - Dollar Tree}
-granola bars {$1/6 pack - Dollar Tree}
-mini lotions {.50 cents/each - Target clearance}
-love mints {$5/2 - Victoria's Secret}
-teasing comb {$1/8 pack - Dollar Tree}
-q tips {free - linen closet items}
-bandaids {free - linen closet items}
-tampon/pantyliner {free - linen closet items}
-safety pins {free - craft room stock supply}
-sewing kit {free - craft room stock supply}
-hair pins {free - linen closet items}
I made some of the items out of things I already had. I wanted to buy sewing kits, but they're expensive and come with every color. My girls' dresses are black so they don't need any other colors. I just took some paper scraps from other wedding projects and cut a little slit in the sides. I wrapped about a foot of black thread around it and slid it into the little grooves. Then I poked a needle through the paper and added some punched out flowers. I used the same paper scraps for the hair pins, rounding the edges. I also found a few safety pins and tied them together with ribbon.
Here's some more linen closet items. Some bandaids & q-tips tied in ribbon. I also wrapped a thong pantyliner around a tampon and tied it with a ribbon... ya know, just in case! :) {is that tmi?}
I found that it was cheaper to buy some things in mini version combo packs and split them up... like these lip gloss packs! These are the best! They are minty tasting, but not too sticky! And they are super glossy.
I also found it was cheaper to just buy a regular sized bottle of tylenol. It was $1.50 for a travel pack of 8, but in the pharmacy section they had a full sized 24 count bottle for under $1.00.
These super cute "I love BLING" hand sanitizers are on sale at Bath & Body Works {leftover from Valentines Day}.
These are also the yummiest! But there is probably a cheaper place to get mints if you have a lot of people to buy for {maybe tic-tacs?}.
Sunscreen is necessary for our outdoor wedding... maybe! I mean - it DID snow 2 inches here today! YUP- we're in a winter weather advisory on April 19th. ugh.
Here it is all separated.
I found these cute boxes a while back from the Target $ wall. Can you tell our wedding is black and pink?
I printed the labels from microsoft word onto thick card stock and taped them to the boxes.
And here it is all completed!! I love them! Now the hard part will be not adding to them in the next 6 weeks! I can't wait to give them to my girls! This would also be fun to give to a bride-to-be at a shower and wedding season is fast approaching!
Now if you think of anything I missed......... don't tell me. just kidding. tell me! I'll just promise not to go out and buy it {unless it is totally necessary of course!!}
Partying here today:

looooove it! and I do not think you forgot ANYthing! Your bridesmaids will love these...they're so stinkin cute!! :)
ReplyDeletethis is such a cute idea.. whenever i find things like this i wish i could go back to my wedding day! i think the teasing comb & hairspray is going to come into good use.. i remember something that we were all needing was deodorant because I got married outside, in July, in FLORIDA! but this is soo precious, cant wait to see more wedding details!
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME! (I totally thought the hand sanitizer were little mini bottles of booze in the first pic, though. :) )
ReplyDeleteok, that is such a thoughtful idea! the girls in your wedding party are going to LOVE you!
ReplyDeletei loved it. it is the most adorable thing ever. for my wedding i would want to do the same exact thing. its so cute. thank you for the post. one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous kit! I think you seriously thought of everything! You're so on top of things :-)
ReplyDeleteLove this! Tissues are a must! Especially if you are a cryer. Also, a tip from my experience... make sure that whoever is carrying your lip gloss on the big day stays around when you're taking pictures so you can touch up after all that kissing.
ReplyDeleteI can always think of something else. lol Here are a few things I had in my own wedding day kit...A bottle of water and a drinking straw, and Shout Wipes or a Tide Pen.
ReplyDeleteLove your wedding colors...I used pink and black for my own wedding in 2005. ;o)
Wow!!! That is a comprehensive list! Well done! And the boxes are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI responded back to you (via the email address you replied to) with a link to some of my pink & black wedding pictures. Just making sure that you got it. ;o)
ReplyDeleteIn this same fashion, I created a NaNoWriMo survival kit in preparation for a month of writing with literary abandon. Putting everything together before the tempest strikes will save me from wasting time on midnight runs for NaNo necessities.

where can i find boxes like theses at? I have been looking all over and can not find a website
ReplyDeleteI got these boxes at the Target dollar wall around this time last year! They aren't there all of the time, but I was just at Target today and they have a whole bunch of new cute ones!!! They are only $1 and I believe they have them for Valentines day so you better get them quick! :)
DeleteSuch a great idea! I, too, am planning a wedding and love DIY ideas to make things personal for the friends and family involved! Very clever and I may just have to copy some of it. :)
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog through pinterest and I am SO excited! You have so many fabulous ideas- Im definitely going to be making this Survival kit. And I think you may have convinced me to buy a Silhouette…I've heard everyone talking about them and I think it might be time :)
ReplyDeletesuch a great idea. thank you for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG thank you! I have been looking for a list!!! Im so excited to start getting things together!
ReplyDeleteThank you, this post really helped me out, best one yet! :)
ReplyDeleteI <3 this! Soon-be-bride on a budget and I wanted something for my girls. This is the perfect idea.
ReplyDeleteThis constantly amazes me just how blog owners such as your self can find the time as well as the dedication to keep on crafting superb blog posts. Your website is good and one of my personal must read weblogs. I just had to thank you.

Thank you so much! This will help me a lot with getting things together for my girls...one thing I've gotten in a kit before that came in handy was a small pack of Kleenex, in case anyone is wanting to add this to their kit.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. I was just looking for a survival kit for my bridesmaids in catalogs and they are sooooo expensive. Thanks for showing me that I can do it on my own for a whole lot cheaper
ReplyDeleteThis is THE BEST suvival kit! I am going for it! I am going to give these to my girls for my Fall Wedding. I was wondering if you gave them any other gifts as well? I just want to make sure I am covering all my bases. Thank you again for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog, and I'm very grateful that I did! I am a matron of honour this coming Saturday, and I'm going to definitely make the bride a survival kit much like yours. Thank you for putting together such a comprehensive list. As someone else mentioned, you may have wanted to add a Tide to Go pen in there as well. :)
ReplyDeletethis is awesome, i actually ordered custom clutches for my bridesmaids with their names sewn in on the inside, and i might steal this idea to stuff the clutches
ReplyDeleteabsolutely loved this post! It helped me so much! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI'm getting ready to start my wedding planning and LOVED this idea! I'll be adding ballet flats and a chocolate bar though.
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!! You will have a blast!!! The flats are an awesome idea... I gave my bridesmaids flip flops in their tote bags... no one wants to run around in heels all day!!
DeleteGREAT job! I'm keeping this to use as a guideline to fill the personalized cosmetic bags I got my girls. I'll add kleenex, a pen, and a condom (haha, partially as a joke, but if they need it they'll be glad they have it!).
ReplyDeleteThankyou. Have started my own survival kits for my lovely bridesmaids. Trying to work on something for the flowergirls too. Did you do anything for your younger ladies?
ReplyDeleteIn an effort to save time and money, I combined everything for a "master" emergency kit. I got a plastic craft box from Joanne Fabrics (on sale of course), and have placed all emergency items for myself as well as my girls in it. On the plus side we only have one emergency pack to keep track of and it is easy to direct anyone who needs ANYTHING straight to it. On the down side I realize I'm missing out on an opportunity to do something special for my girls. They know I love and appreciate them though!
ReplyDeleteItems you may want to consider including:
allergy medicine like zyrtec or claritin (outdoor weddings especially!)
scissors
shout wipes/tide pen
straws
floral pins (at a friends wedding after much handling, the bouquet wraps began to unwind and the florist provided pins gave way)
super glue
fashion tape
kleenex
I got the plain kleenex type facial tissue packs on line and very cheap at http://www.imprintitems.com/healthcare/tissue/blanktissue
ReplyDeleteThey shipped right away and are the clear packs
We printed labels and used them for wedding favors at the reception too:)
Another good idea is blotting paper to get rid of any facial shine that won't ruin makeup.
