This Friday we are getting our {unofficial} engagement pictures taken by a friend of my fiances. He offered to take them for us last week, so I was totally unprepared in the wardrobe department. But, the leaves are gorgeous right now and we wanted to take advantage of that!

I wanted this coat for the pictures, but I love coats and I have way too many.
(But can you really have too many when you live in Minnesota and it's winter 9 months out of the year?)

Either way, I loved it. But refused to buy it because of my closet full of coats and wedding to pay for. So my fiance went back and got it for me. (love him)
Since I'm being a cheapo these days, I didn't want to buy any accessories. And since I wear scrubs every day, I don't really have any. I've been seeing all of these cute fabric headbands around blogland and decided to just make my own. I went to Hob Lob to find fabric, but there was nothing bright yellow that was the right thickness, so I bought a piece of felt for 25 cents. I already had the rest of the supplies.
I traced my spool of thread for the circles and made the smallest size about a centimeter smaller, the middle size was right on the lines and the biggest size was about a centimeter larger than the lines. You don't have to be too exact.
So, this definitely wasn't the look I was going for. It's a little too........ "craft projecty". I took a lighter to the edges and was much happier!
I made 2 more and then began to sew them to my headband.
I sewed a cross stitch to the center of the "flower" and then added some beads for the center. I can't decide if I like just one bead, or three... but my 1 was off centered so I went for three :)
And done!! I love them! Seriously. Love.
Now, because these headbands are rolly polly, I decided to add some felt to the back. You really wouldn't have to, but it helped it to stay in place a lot better. I also added some hot glue to the back for a gribber. It worked great and stays put all day!
Don't forget to overlap your flowers about a centimeter because when you put the headband on they stretch apart!!

I would love to win one (I might try to make one too, I love these).
